What the hell did one do now that they were no longer Headmaster of a school they had been headmaster at when their own kids were still in diapers? A headmaster that was still around when their oldest grandkids were almost finishing said school? A man that had become a widowed husband way too early? What did one exactly do now? Besides the obvious which was smoke a little and enjoy the extended holiday of his life?

Oliver still hadn't a clue what he would do. He had received a owl from Deputy Headmistress Jillian Hyde, a owl that caused him to tear up as he read it. Along with an out pour of well wishes from the staff and student body of hogwarts. Yet Oliver felt an emptiness inside, perhaps it was the two portraits that were hanging in the headmaster's old office that caused that sadness. His life had been snuffed out of him many years ago. And yet he still felt he had no answers. So smoking and trying to relax was the only thing he could accomplish least he had another heart attack at such a young age for a wizard. Life's next adventure, next chapter was what Oliver needed. And it had been exactly a week since he had made his resignation official, yet he still had not found his next chapter.

These thoughts plagued him as he smoked a lot in his study at home. Finally he decided he would venture out into Hogsmeade and find a nearby pub, have some fries and probably a night cap. With his eyes watery the man took off for the hog's head, taking a short cut through Knockturn Alley when he stumbled upon a nightclub, unforgivables. Peeing at the long line to enter one of the witches in line whistled at him and asked him to escort her in. Oliver polietely turned her down then proceeded to head for the pizzeria next door instead instead. Staring at the menu displayed before him on the wall and the smell of pizza wafting to his nostrils made his mouth water. He really needed another funky cold medina cigarette -coughs-. With that though in mind, he walked across the street and lit one up as he leaned against the wall and watched the passerbys lazily.

All my life I’ve been living in the fast lane
Genevieve walked down the chilly avenue tucked in close against Daniel’s body. Her arm was threaded through his, her hands wrapped around the arm. It wasn’t so much a matter of wanting to be close as it was amazingly cold out and they were walking briskly. Her side was practically glued to his. She was very likely giving off the wrong kind of signals to the man she found she was only mildly interested in. But then again, she was supposedly on an outing with him. There was no help for it unless she wanted to arrive at their destination, The Hog's Head in Hogsmeade Village, with blue lips and chattering teeth.

Daniel had been a member of her dead husband’s Auror Squad. Once a year on the anniversary of his death, the man insisted on bringing her out for a pint to reminisce about Xavier. He had been subtly hinting for the last couple of years that he would be interested in something more. Although just lately there had been nothing subtle about it at all. While she found the man attractive enough, he’d been a close friend with her husband and he still worked with the Aurors. She’d already lost one loved one to that particular institution, freak “accident” or not, and she wasn’t keen on setting herself up to lose another. No matter how handsome the man.

Daniel side stepped, her body moving instinctively with his, to avoid several wizards walking toward them. The trio were chatting animatedly, their hands gesticulating wildly. How they could be so effusive in these temperatures Genevieve didn’t understand. But she had to admit, it did feel nice when Daniel pulled her body instinctively into the shelter of his much larger one, their space on the walk limited. He blocked the wind! Genevieve tipped her head up, smiling at him with a humorous twinkle in her eyes. His head tipped down, a smile curling his lips in shared amusement. The moment stretched a little, changed as Daniel moved from just sharing humor to something more serious and intent. The smile slowly drifted from his lips as his eyes searched her face, cataloging features.

His head dipped towards hers and Genevieve knew he was going to try and kiss her. She quickly ducked her head and shifted back, clearing her throat. “Well! We should probably get moving again. I want to make it to the Hog’s Head before we both freeze!” she chirped a little too brightly. Chirped for goodness sake. The man’s advances had reduced her to chirping. This might need to be the last of their annual outings in Xavier’s honor. It was time to let her dead husband rest where she’d buried him.

Genevieve started moving forward, her body only a second ago sheltered in the lee of his, now turned toward the street tugging on his with forward momentum. She felt the hesitation in him. That split second where he was deciding whether he would let the moment pass uncommitted or bring up the subject she’d been avoiding since he’d shown up at her door that night. Her heart gave one giant thump before she felt his muscles unlock. Genevieve suppressed the sigh of relief that wanted to lift her shoulders and deflate her chest in its magnitude. Daniel moved forward, his much longer stride making up the distance between them in a single step.

The close brush with disaster almost made her giddy. She trembled a little and Daniel pulled her in close again, misreading the little shiver that went through her muscles as a reaction to the cold. Or at least she hoped he did. With her thoughts tumbling tumultuously about in her head she almost missed him. Genevieve’s eyes were scanning around their surroundings lazily but seeing nothing absorbed as she was in her thoughts. So it was entirely likely that the man standing across the street leaning negligently against the side of a cold brick building her eyes finally settled on had been glanced over several times already. Her step faltered a bit in surprised recognition. But then she gratefully latched on to the distraction. “Oliver!” she called out, lifting one hand to wave in his direction as a bright smile curled her lips. “Oliver Gibson!

She glanced at Daniel and nodded in Oliver’s direction, then turned her body into his so he adjusted course to cross the street to where Oliver stood shrouded in a cloud of smoke. It was true that she had only know Oliver peripherally. The man had been a friend of her then boyfriend, all of them running around in a group as young adults were won’t too do. Still. Once upon a time they’d been friends of a sort. Even though they’d lost touch over the years, she was still pleased to see him so her smile was genuine as they approached. She released Daniel’s arm, pulling her own entwined one lose gently when they stopped. Genevieve took one more step, closing the distance and rocked up on the toe of her heels, her hands resting every so lightly on Oliver’s shoulders as she pressed her cheek briefly against his in a quick informal hug of greeting.

Genevieve suppressed the urge to cough as she breathed in the little lingering cloud of smoke surrounding him. The man was out here getting baked! The urge to giggle burbled up in Genevieve but she stifled it by biting her lower lip as she dropped back to flat footed, moving out of the man’s personal space. Still. Merriment danced in her eyes when they made contact with his.

Oliver. How lovely to see you again. Do you know Daniel? Daniel Radcliffe, this is Oliver Gibson,” Genevieve finished the introductions.

Oliver and his rper were too entirely baked to worry about pretty coding stuff. But that didn't stop either one of them from enjoying the view and the cool crisp evening. Maybe his body was immune to it by now, maybe it was just that he was so completely out of it the man did not care one bit of the extreme temperature Scotland was displaying this time of year. Spring? Not here that was certain, but that didn't stop the man from continuing to create a Colombian cloud of smoke on the opposite street grinning occasionally at a passerby or two.

A couple began walking towards him across the street and his name now escaped the woman's lips. Oliver cocked a brow, his eyes going as wide as possible considering the circumstances as he dropped the funky cold medina on the ground and snuffed it with his boot. Attempting to expel the smoke from his lungs quickly resulting in a coughing fit. There it was, he was certainly baked. A smile on his lips as he heard his full name the voice sounding familiar until he realized who it was that was now embracing him. "Genevieve. Genevieve Angelisarrio?" Oliver replied in shock, his jaw going slack as he hugged her quickly and took in the sight of her. Wow had she grown up since he had last seen her. A young graduate of hogwarts hanging with his crowd, his buddy Neville's girlfriend.

Ollie did not know Daniel which is when she introduced him Ollie's jaw dropped slightly and he shook his head at the man. Extending his hand in greeting and licking his lips as he tilted his head to one side and sized up the man. His eyes automatically going to the man's forehead, not seeing a scar in the shape of a lightening bolt, Oliver frowned slightly. "Um, are you undercover? Merlin's beard. You are. You're Harry Potter!" The former headmaster exclaimed in excitement. The funky cold medina playing tricks on him. Some of the crowd turned to look in that general direction, when they realized that Daniel was in fact NOT, Potter, they turned back around going about their business.

Oliver was not convinced as Daniel shook his hand and shook his head, saying he was in fact not the famous Auror. The resemblance was "uncanny." Finishing his own thoughts out loud. Grinning he now looked to Nevie and took her in fully. Smiling as he asked them both, "Do you lot want to share a pie with me?" He up-nodded in the direction of the pizza parlor and fidgeted, his mouth watering as the small hole in the wall looked warm, inviting and if this was a movie would suddenly sound like he was standing in front of the chapel that would save him. Shining like a beacon, which caused Oliver's mouth to water even more as he gazed in that general direction longingly.

Looking back at the couple he began to think of the last time he had seen Genevieve, it was at the BBQ pool party he had before graduation from Uni, oh yes that was the last time, he remembered her in a bikini and gave a smirk in her direction, not realizing how he was actually staring at her. "I was just going to get a slice or two then head over to the Hog's head for a night cap, if anyone cares to join me." Oliver making a point to just gaze at the brunette woman in a request. Daniel looking between one and the other, the man looked put out as if he was about to interject.

All my life I’ve been living in the fast lane
Genevieve stifled a choked laugh at Oliver’s exclamation. He'd always been a bit of a kidder, but she suspected that little gem was a product of his recreational activities more than an actual joke. She slid a glance at Daniel out of the corner of her eye only to see the muscle flicker along his jawline. Her date wasn’t exactly enjoying the joke. Or maybe it was the cheek press she’d given the other man so shortly after rebuffing his attempted kiss. Either way she could feel the unhappy vibe now radiating from the man she stood beside. Daniel leaned forward for the handshake.

They did the quick once up-down with their hands men preferred to use as a greeting and released, Daniel falling back to stand at her side. He sidled a bit closer to her and tucked one arm around her back, hand resting firmly on her waist. Genevieve recognized the proprietary move for what it was and once again decided this would be the last anniversary of Xavier’s death they would celebrate. But just for now, she rested calmly tucked into his side once more, thankful for the warmth he radiated at her side even standing in the lee of the building as they were.

Yes!” she fairly gasped when Oliver suggested they join him, grasping at the excuse not to spend any more time alone with Daniel that evening. The word came out high pitched and eager. Genevieve was all too afraid Daniel understood exactly what her acceptance meant when he went almost solid beneath his trench coat at her side. A flush of red swept up her neck and heated her cheeks. Genevieve sincerely hopped the dim lighting on the street covered that little fact up as she subsided back into silence and Oliver continued elaborating his invitation.

How the hell did she manage to get herself into these kinds of pickles? She really should have just been upfront with Daniel a year or more ago when she finally admitted to herself that the letters he sent via owl offering to help her with things around the house or “coax her out of her solitude since Xavier’s death” had more to do with him perusing her than overtures of friendship to a grieving widow. Genevieve enjoyed a healthly social life having many friends and was routinely so busy she barely had time to think. So implying she lead a “life of solitude” was more than a bit over the top. Beside which, she hadn’t been “grieving” for Xavier for at least five years now.

She still missed him and what they’d shared of course. He had been a large part of her life and her first love. But she no longer woke in the morning with the constant ache of his missing presence staring her down all day. Sometimes she even went days or weeks without thinking of him. And when she did, she found that now she remembered the happy times, shared jokes or happy vignettes of their time together rather than remembering the pain of loss and the cold, vacant body she’d seen last. Genevieve was pulled back from her mental wandering as she saw the very devil of mischief in Oliver’s eyes. Oh dear.

She turned to Daniel, placing one hand warm on his sleeve and looking up into his face with a smile. “You don’t mind do you Daniel? Oliver is a very old friend and I haven’t seen him in years. We could stop in for a slice and a nightcap right? We were headed out for a drink anyway and the food looks lovely,” she leaned out to glance around Oliver and the corner of the building into the lighted window of the little shop bustling with patrons. Obviously the place enjoyed a brisk business, something that boded well for their food.

Genevieve leaned back in and letting her chest and weight rest lightly against Daniel’s arm as she smiled up at him once again. “Please?”” she finished her request when it looked like her date would decline. Daniel’s eyes worked over her face, his expression distant and thoughtful for a moment before it melted under the weight of her smile and request. A slightly strained smile lifted one corner of his lips in a half smile as he agreed with an ‘Of course. Whatever you’d like Vieve

Daniel’s gaze moved back to Oliver, turning flinty as he waved a hand out before them to the sidewalk. ‘Lead the way Gibson.’ The words were sharp and determined, all not forgiven just yet. But at least Genevieve had gotten her way. She wouldn’t be relegated to spending a quiet evening with Daniel at the Hog’s Head. Something she was coming to understand more and more was an fortuitous turn of events. If nothing else, the last few minutes had made it very clear Daniel had intended to force the issue of what was between them tonight. Something Genevieve was more than happy to avoid.

Genevieve's exclamation of a "yes" caused Oliver to grin, his eyes going wide then he chuckled in amusement. His eyes dancing in merriment, as he watched her expression. Daniel didn't look too keen on the idea but that didn't stop Oliver from grinning. He was about to have awesome pizza, or what smelled like awesome pizza with a beautiful friend and her partner? At least they seemed like partners, the thought caused Ollie to frown. Anyways her partner that looked like Harry Freakin' Potter, man! Oh Ollie was amused alright, that stuff he had gotten from Cassadee really did the trick he was all smiles his eyes blood shot and his mouth practically watering for a lot of reasons, mostly food right now.

And she, Neieve was excited about his offer. Licking his lips, Oliver turned his attention to Daniel who seemed a bit stiff. The brunette was now trying to convince him on the eatary. Oh Ollie wouldn't let him even make that choice. No, he refused the good company to go away now. Oliver cocked his bro and patted the man on the shoulder, "Lighten up Danny old boy. We have a pie to tackle! Onward!" It took all in his power not to roll his eyes as he started to walk in the direction of the shop and over hearing Neieve ask kindly with a please. Oliver smirked, oh she was definately working her womenly charms on Daniel. The former headmaster could easily see the muscles in Daniel's face on side profile working had and thinking over as he looked at the woman, searching her face.

"Excellent!" Cried Oliver, anyone would have thought he had already disappeared but nope he was eavesdropping like a proper stoner. As soon as he heard Daniel agree there was Oliver on his side as he patted him once more on the shoulder and pointed, then took one long stride towards the shop, practically skipping with glee as Neieve told him to lead the way.

Upon entering the shop the wave of Italian food hit you hard, but it was so rich and homey the scent that it made your mouth water, regardless if one was high or not. Oliver felt himself drooling, his eyes wide as he looked up at the menu that was above the counter tops in full color with words and pricing. Oh he felt like he wanted one of each. He just stopped walking and stared up at the beautiful sign for a good minute then his eyes wandered to the pizza makers as they were in the back using magic and manual labor to make the pies, "beautiful..."

The moment the owner of the shop heard that word and spotted Oliver Gibson his eyes went wide, "headmaster this way!" He shoo'd away a few teenagers who were sitting at one booth with no more food just loitering really. And Oliver grinned up at the owner with glee, "Jerry O'Connel. It's been a long time! I didn't know you were running this place. I would have visited sooner. Can we just order a pie with everything on one side and plain extra cheese on the other side? And bring us some fizzy drinks!" He asked the man who was about Oliver's age and shook his hand before he even sat down at the booth. Stopping Jerry from cleaning the table with his rag.

Oliver pfft, and used his wandless magic to quickly clean up the mess. Snapping his fingers now, "Chop chop Jerry, I'm starving we can talk after. Pleassssssse." He grinned at Jerry who seemed to have given Oliver the same grin, another uncanny moment it seemed as he took off now to place the other and came back with the drinks and some steaming garlic rolls in a red basket. "Oooo." Ollie didn't even have time to take in his surroundings or even speak some more to his companions because garlic rolls. That's why. Quickly he grabbed one and shoved it in his mouth taking a huge bite, his eyes almost rolling shut as he moaned. Finally as he swallowed and took another bite leaning back he looked over at beauty and the really odd beast with a smirk, "Well, what the hell have you been up to all these years?" He asked after swallowing a mouthful of bread.
